May 16, 2018  I have an HP Elite 8300 desktop computer with Windows 8.0 installed on it. I have tried upgrading to 8. Hp Pavilion Dv9700 Restore Disk Download there. 1, but the upgrade program says I need to uninstall the HP ProtectTools Security Manager.

I have an HP Elite 8300 desktop computer with Windows 8.0 installed on it. I have tried upgrading to 8.1, but the upgrade program says I need to uninstall the HP ProtectTools Security Manager. This piece of software requires uninstallation of the HP Access Device Manager. After uninstalling it I tried uninstalling the Security Manager and it tells me I have to remove the Access Device Manager (which is already removed). I was on the phone with HP for a couple hours trying to solve the problem. I have tried re-installing the software and un-installing it several times but got no where. Is there an answer to this besides rebuilding the system and starting from scratch?

Have you enabled a drive encryption for a drive on the computer (for the drive in which HP tool is installed)?

If there is any encryption enabled for the drive, disable it temporarily and check if tool is still getting recognized after uninstalling it.
