Hp Serial Port Adapter Pinout
The referenced HP item (which I'd seen before on the net) looks to be both huge and an expensive and a cable rather than an adapter -- it would need an RJ45 barrel to attach the CAT5E crossconnect cable too. Pinouts are uncertain too -- trying to avoid having to add a null-modem style adapter just to swap DTE/DCE, and I haven't been able to figure out a DTE/DCE designation for either the HP side or the Cisco port.
Sun gear has an RJ45 and straight CAT5E cables work out of the box. The HP serial interfaces also seem to have a speed or flow control problem -- I can't cut/paste or even type fast when working with the ORCA or RBSU CLI's, or many characters will be dropped. These systems are 2000 miles away so my ability to experiment with them is limited.
