Thermaltake Toughpower 1500w Manual
Recently Thermaltake has added three new models to the Toughpower series, which are intended for power hungry systems with triple or even four-way SLI or Crossfire configurations. Today our load testers will have some extra work to do since we are going to test a monstrous Toughpower unit with 1500W capacity.
Introduction We would like to thank Thermaltake for supplying the review sample. Thermaltake advertises the Toughpower series PSUs as very reliable and states they are built with the latest technology available today and use industrial-grade components. We have no reason to not believe them although you should take the 'latest technology' phrase with a grain of salt.
When the Toughpower Series was introduced this was true, but since then new technologies have emerged that are now considered state of the art. Recently three new models were added to the Toughpower series. Three units with 1000W, 1200W and 1500W capacities cover users with huge power needs. Today we have the chance to test the strongest Toughpower (TP-1500M) which features a monstrous capacity of 1500W (with 1600W peak if someone needs even more power!) This unit can easily bring many PSU review setups to its knees, but not our testers, which can pull up to 2100W from +12V alone and 2550W in total! Briefly, the TP-1500M has four +12V rails, is equipped with eight PCIe connectors, cooled by a 135mm fan and uses a heavy duty C19 AC power plug. Also, contrary to the older Toughpower 1500W this model is available in the U.S.

Thermaltake Toughpower 1500W Power Supply Review Thermaltake was a leader in the field of high power computer PSUs many years ago, and in fact we still use those 1200 watt units in testing. Today we are seeing another top end Toughpower PSU enter the market, this time packing a huge 1500 watts of power supposedly at high efficiencies. Overview The first thing we are going to look at with the Thermaltake Toughpower 1500W is the packaging, accessories, and documentation. Canon Mpc190 Driver Windows 7 64 Bit.
While normally none of these items is a make or break item for a power supply the packaging quite often contains a lot of information about the product we are purchasing. The inclusion of an owner’s manual that provides actual information about our product is also of great help. Accessories are almost unnecessary with a power supply as the unit is self contained, unless it is modular, but there cases where a manufacturer can include useful accessories to make installation, routing and use more efficient. The packaging for the Thermaltake Toughpower 1500W is huge and shares the same form factor as what we saw with the.
The screening on the packaging differs a good bit from the 1350W, we have a 'MasterChief' fighting a bare-chested gentleman. Printed around this glorious battle scene we see an 80 Plus Silver seal, an AMD CrossFireX seal, an SLI seal, and a 5 year warranty tag. A quick check of the 80Plus finds that the Toughpower 1500W is indeed certified for 80Plus Silver. Moving to the SLIZone we find that, amongst the horrible redesign of the previously barely usable site, there are only two Thermaltake power supplies listed as being certified for SLI, the Toughpower XT 775W and 850W.
After looking around for a minute, we find that NVIDIA has stashed all the rest of the certified power supplies on a separate at the top of the page. Thanks NVIDIA, you somehow made the barely useful SLIZone webpage just a prettier train wreck. Anyway, in that PDF (which is easier to search than the old SLIZone website at least) we find this unit certified for a range of SLI options. Interestingly, when we flip over the AMD CrossFireX we don’t currently find the Toughpower 1500W as being certified for any level of multi-GPU support. Moving on to the back of the Toughpower packaging, we find the power table (reproduced below), the connector count (reproduced below), an efficiency graph, and more marketing points.
Lastly, the unit is backed by Thermaltake's 5 year warranty which is a good level of support. While the Thermaltake Toughpower 1500W is very similar to the, it also varies to a degree when it comes to the way this unit’s power is delivered. Whereas the ST1500 had eight 12v rails, the Toughpower 1500W has only four. These four rails are still capable of 110A or 'just' 88% of the unit’s capacity. The four 12v rails are broken down as indicated in the table above with the biggest benefit being that fact that only 4 PCI-Express connectors can occupy any one rail (this being the fixed PCI-Express connectors) and that rail has a 12v capacity of 50A (or 600W).
